Oblivion - Fault in our stars

“I fear OBLIVION, I fear it like the proverbial blind man who’s afraid of the dark.”

said Augustus Waters when he was asked about his fears. The people who know me also know that how much fanatic I am about The Fault in our Stars by John Green. And today as I sit on my couch, my sight is captivated to the news channels blaring just one thing – The seamless effect of a small organism, who isn’t visible, on our lives. I remember Augustus Waters’ words and for the first time in my life I fear oblivion. I fear that this world would be grasped in the clutches of this bloody little creature.

My life seems to come to a standstill. I am no longer allowed to wander on the streets. I am being so paranoid that I wash every single thing that enters the threshold of my house. And all of this being important today, I desperately feel the urge to go back to my previous routine even though I complained about it. I don’t know when will everything come back to normalcy but hey people ………we need to just light one ray of hope to survive this.

One thing that this situation taught me is to enjoy the ‘pause’; to reconsider all the things happened in my life. I know it’s tough to recount the past. But why not remember the good things……like our childhood and how carefree and oblivious we were to this world. I want to go back and play with my friends in the compound of my society. I want to go back to my school and relive the council days and the last picnic of my school too. I want to spend hours with my junior college gang in the classes playing, gossiping, and what not. I want to go back to eating paani – puri with my college friends – ‘this is something I wanna desperately do’. And most importantly, I want to meet my best friends. We haven’t met in months. Our plans of meeting in this vacation is now gone for a toss. But we found new ways though……… “The video call”. I can’t control this situation but I can surely choose a better way to do deal with.

And most importantly, reconnecting with myself still tops my priority. Because lately I was lost in a maze of routine. Now that I got so many free days, why not cash in. I started writing a full blog like almost after a year. I started learning an online course. I am ticking off my watching list. And yes…… lots of cooking these days, because I want to prove that I m not that lazy as everyone thinks (But actually I am). I have got these precious days to spend with my family and hanging around with the basics.

Though OBLIVION is inevitable someday…… we just have to make our days memorable. And make it memorable in your own way. And if you don’t feel like doing anything………that’s still okay coz there is a lot you might be going through and staying and surviving is the best achievement of ours!!!

“Give yourself a forever within the numbered days just like Augustus gave to Hazel”!!!

(P.S. I wanna thank #JohnGreen for this amazing book of #TheFaultinourStars and this blog was inspired from his book quotes

Also, through this medium, I would like to extend a big ‘THANK YOU’ to all the people who are contributing to others’ welfare.)
